Code of Conduct

NACK. I would certainly encourage anyone who is subject to serious abuse or harassment to bring it up with peers and where relevant law enforcement. The vast majority of the community (myself included) would seek to provide whatever support was needed if this was highlighted.

Instances of abusive, harassing, or otherwise unacceptable behavior may be reported by contacting the site maintainer. All complaints will be reviewed and investigated and will result in a response that is deemed necessary and appropriate to the circumstances. The project team is obligated to maintain confidentiality with regard to the reporter of an incident.

I and many others have been subject to death threats in the past (not on this site) and to make that the responsibility of an existing site maintainer or project team is not productive. The alternative of setting up a "code of conduct" group of bureaucrats to police what language can and cannot be used just ends up with huge swathes of the English dictionary being banned from use while not addressing the much more serious problem of threats of violence etc external to this site. Uncensorable money and uncensorable communications come with downsides. If you don't want to ever experience or have to manage those downsides stick to censorable money and censorable communications.
