sunk818 commented at 3:02 am on March 12, 2019: noneWhy would bitcoin cease to exist if the miners quit mining? There will always be miners. You also earn transaction fees on every block, so there is always a financial incentive to keep mining. Worse case, we will go back to CPU mining. This is a silly BIP. You’re really not serious are you?

ghost commented at 2:14 am on March 13, 2019: noneLess block reward = mining unprofitable = fewer miners = blockchain security degrade If the block reward is smaller, miners who stayed in the network will raise the transaction fee to compensate for the fact that their block reward is too small. Tail emission will keep miners on the chain and keep the promise of low transaction fees and high security.

This isn’t how BIPs work. Read BIP 2.
Also, I’m pretty sure the concept of tail emission as a whole falls under “not…keeping with the Bitcoin philosophy.”
