The term blockchain is more common than the old block chain, so I replaced all matches for "block chain" with "blockchain" in the doc/ folder, except the matches in doc/release-notes for historical reasons.

I think a standardized version of the word would be better than having two different writing styles.

I think both are acceptable and intelligible. I don't think standardization for standardization's sake is worthwhile, so I'm a weak NACK on this.

I agree with @jnewbery.
Generally for spelling we accept British English or American English or mixed dialects, as long as it is understandable. I do have a slight preference for blockchain, but then I am the wrong person to ask, because I wrongly assumed it was
timezoneas opposed totime zonejust today. -
