i just downloaded and upgraded to the v0.19.0.1 on ubuntu v18.04 the GUI freezes however using bitcoin core via bitcoind work flawlessly.

Are you in IBD (initial block download)? Does the freeze also happen in the same manner in a 0.18 version of Bitcoin Core?
