No wallet command found #26989

   Hi Bitcoiners <3,

   So my Ras.Pi 4 8gbs is coming in 2 days and tried to install bitcoin core on desktop, to practice a little. I downloaded 24.99, newest version, compiled it from code here…. and there is no bitcoin-cli createwallet command.

   I wanted to create descriptor and play a little with bitcoin.conf walletnotify command.

   What did I do wrong? Do you have any recommendations. Did I compile it wrong (I read some configuration needs to be good) or is it the problem with this new version?

   Thanks for any help.

   EDIT: which version would you recommend me ?

   Make sure you have SQLite3-dev and BerkeleyDB built/installed https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/blob/master/doc/build-unix.md#linux-distribution-specific-instructions

   If you want a pretty much guaranteed way to get all the deps build and referenced correctly using the depends directory https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/tree/master/depends.

   When you configure you should see with wallet = yes

   Ok I installed btc core 24.0.1 and successfully created a descriptor with bitcoin-cli createwallet ""

   But I found out somewhere that version 24.0.1 was unreleased at some point due to the bag within wallet commands… Should I run 23.0 maybe or should I stay with 24.0 if its safe enough ?

   Docs for 24.0.1 - Didn’t see anything about ‘createwallet’ https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/blob/master/doc/release-notes/release-notes-24.0.1.md

   The bug in 24.0.0 seems to be around coin control double counting UTXOs 2x, not ‘createwallet’

   Edit: v24.99 is a dev version v24.0.1 is a release hence I would expect it to be more stable.

    24.0.0 was never released due to a bug found just after the version number was assigned.

    The bug was fixed, and released as 24.0.1, which has no known problems.
