Sparrow Wallet Version 1.8.4 and Bitcoin Core: Issues Connecting #29613

   I was previously running Sparrow Wallet Version 1.8.2 with my Bitcoin Coin node on my MacBook Pro M1 notebook. Sparrow was connecting to the Node without any issues and within around 30 seconds. Yesterday I dowloaded and verified the latest version of Sparrow 1.8.4 and installed it after taking all verification steps. However, the Sparrow Wallet keeps timing out after a few minutes and will not connect to my Node. I’ve tried this multiple times and get the same result.

   Is there an issue with Sparrow Wallet Version 1.8.4, or could there be some other issue at play? Thanks for your help. Phil

   Usually the issue tracker is used to track technical issues related to the Bitcoin Core code base.

   I am not sure what your Bitcoin Core issue is, without steps to reproduce. Have you filed an issue with Sparrow Wallet?

   I think we can close this out unless additional repro steps are provided? I’ve just upgraded and tested Bitcoin Core against Sparrow 1.8.4 and RPC connection is working OK.

   I see you have an Issue open in Sparrow already: https://github.com/sparrowwallet/sparrow/issues/1311 and I agree this is probably the best place for it.

   Ensure you’ve checked your path(s) are correct in Sparrow, and whether you should be using cookie (“default”) or username and password to connect. You can test most of these settings with bitcoin-cli (-rpcuser=xxx -rpcpassword=xxx and optionally -rpcport=nnn, or -rpccookiefile=/path/) to narrow down what might be setup incorrectly for you.

   Thanks for your help. I believe the issue was local. I just updated my MacOS to Sonoma 14.4 and now Sparrow connects to my Bitcoin Core node in default mode in around 10 seconds. Appreciate your help. I’ll also update my open issue in Sparrow.
