Failed to read block error #2983

Im a new user to bitcoin, unfortunately I have not been able to try it.

The program does not load at all.

These are the messages that show while the program loads

1- Loading block index

2- Verifying blocks

3- Loading wallet

4- Failed to read block

I uninstalled 3 times, but still the same error occurs.

Looks like the blocks data became corrupted somehow.

Can you try to remove all the data files except for wallet.dat and restart?

If that doesn't work, please post any information from debug.log that can help debug the issue.

@laanwj Since 0.8, there is no need to advise people to wipe their data directories, -reindex has the same effect, but can reuse blocks that aren't damaged.
