Please describe the feature you’d like to see added.

    Hello,

I would like to suggest a feature or improvement that could significantly contribute to the adoption of Bitcoin as a common payment method, especially in physical stores.

Currently, transaction confirmation times can be too slow for real-time, in-person payments. This delay is a major obstacle to using Bitcoin as a day-to-day currency for retail purchases.

Proposal: Explore protocol-level optimizations or layer 1 improvements that would allow faster finality (or secure pre-confirmation mechanisms) suitable for small-value transactions in physical retail environments.

    Potential Benefits:

Encourage wider adoption of Bitcoin in brick-and-mortar stores.

Improve user experience for consumers and merchants.

Position Bitcoin as a practical digital currency, not just a store of value.

This request is not about replacing existing solutions like Lightning Network, but about exploring whether native Bitcoin transactions could be optimized to support such use cases more directly.

Thank you for considering this idea. Alexander

General bitcoin questions and/or support requests are best directed to the Bitcoin StackExchange or the #bitcoin IRC channel on the Libera Chat network.

For proposed protocol changes you can post to the bitcoindev mailing list or the Delving Bitcoin Discorse forum.

For general bitcoin discussion you can try bitcointalk or https://reddit.com/r/bitcoin.

This topic has been discussed plenty before, I’d suggest you research previous ideas and proposals before opening a generic issue here.
