@super3 The Bitcoin Foundation does not officially or unofficially offer the torrent. That's all me, in my spare time.

@jgarzik Where does the Bitcoin Foundation come into this PR at all? I don't see @super3 suggesting they endorse anything...

  5. super3 commented at 7:32 PM on February 21, 2014: contributor

Whoops, didn't read my writers work well enough. @luke-jr There is an incorrect assertion in the actually tutorial. @jgarzik Sorry about that. Fixing it now.

Ok, that has been fixed. Let me know if there is anything else.

Automatic sanity-testing: PASSED, see http://jenkins.bluematt.me/pull-tester/1b61d988987f9197ff2fb321c1dbf0a246ea349e for binaries and test log. This test script verifies pulls every time they are updated. It, however, dies sometimes and fails to test properly. If you are waiting on a test, please check timestamps to verify that the test.log is moving at http://jenkins.bluematt.me/pull-tester/current/ Contact BlueMatt on freenode if something looks broken.

However, it downloads and stores the entire history of Bitcoin transactions (which is currently several GBs); depending on the speed of your computer and network connection, the synchronization process can take anywhere from a few hours to a day or more. It would be best to include this guide in the Bitcoin tree instead of referring to an external site. Not that this is worse than referring people to the bitcointalk forums.
