As the getwork API doesn't exist anymore, currently this script is useless.
It would be nice to have a getblocktemplate-based Python example of a miner, but there is no point in keeping this one around except to confuse people.

Automatic sanity-testing: PASSED, see http://jenkins.bluematt.me/pull-tester/p4600_403c1bf0fbff2c7cb20afbd4413f36267029deef/ for binaries and test log. This test script verifies pulls every time they are updated. It, however, dies sometimes and fails to test properly. If you are waiting on a test, please check timestamps to verify that the test.log is moving at http://jenkins.bluematt.me/pull-tester/current/ Contact BlueMatt on freenode if something looks broken.
