When I turned on my computer after being off for a day, Bitcoin started up and while updating the block chain, I sent a single coin. After the coin was sent I edited the address, in my address book to keep track of the transaction, as soon as it saved - a message appeared saying Bitcoin has unexpectedly quit. I restarted the program and get the 11DbException input/output error message. I downloaded the latest version of the wallet and get the same results. The program does not open, and the same message comes up.

Before you try anything, make sure to have a backup of your wallet.dat.

Is there wallet.dat for OSX? - I can't seem to find it.

I suggest you do a backup of your wallet.dat, and reinstall bitcoin to see if your blockchain was corrupted somehow.
