Right now to recover from a backup with an encrypted HD wallet the user must do something like unlock the wallet with a really long time out and manually trigger a rescan, otherwise they risk missing some keys when auto-topup cannot run.

Ideally what behavior do you think it should have? The ability to unlock-and-rescan without having to guess how long to unlock the wallet for?

Given this hasn't moved since 2017, closing due to lack of momentum/interest. Can re-open if the ideal behavior is better defined.
