Relevant IRC discussion, on wether to wait for 0.17.1 or do a quick 0.17.0.1 release is here. Consensus seems to be that a 0.17.0.1 release is preferred, there are still quite a few outstanding PRs before 0.17.1 would be done.

The linter "failure" can be fixed by rebaseing on the 0.17 branch now that #14579 is merged.
