If you mean v22.0 https://bitcoincore.org/en/releases/22.0/ – it is not compatible with macOS 10.12 Sierra.
The latest version which is compatible with macOS 10.12 Sierra is v0.21.2 https://bitcoincore.org/en/releases/0.21.2/. Going to reproduce the issue you reported.

you can do what ever you choose but I still can’t use bitcoin core on Mac OS Monterey.
We are aware of the issue, and will work to improve the situation for 23.0. Closing this as a duplicate.
I followed the steps as following. It works on one of my MacBook Air, but not my MacBook Pro. The screenshot is here
To run Bitcoin Core 22.0 on macOS Monterey you can use a work-around using a context menu:
- Click “Show in Finder”
- Open context menu for “Bitcoin Core”
- Click “Open”
6. Click “Open” 7.
Tested on macOS Monterey 12.2 (21D48, Intel).
