CMakeList.txt not part of the release tags #31732

   why the CMakeList.txt is not present in the release tags/branches ?! how should that be built ?

   Expected behaviour

   CMakeList.txt should be present

   just check the release tags/branches

   29.x (currently master) will be the first release to use CMake. Previous releases used autotools, and you can follow the build docs for whichever branch you are trying to build.

   But the CMakeLists.txt was present before 29.x : https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/commits/master/CMakeLists.txt

   I don’t get how this does not show in the release branches, it’s a bit suspicious…

   The PR introducing the file was merged #30454 on Aug 28. The branch off of the 28.x release branch was done before. If you run git merge-base master 28.x it points to https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/commit/1248d0da22794f76ea805364f82558aaad50aabf , which is dated Aug 27. Clearly the branch off was done before the file was present.
