    Hi Bitcoin Core community 👋

I’m a developer and member of the Vietnamese Bitcoin community. We greatly appreciate all the work done by the contributors of Bitcoin Core and the open-source ecosystem.

We would like to help make Bitcoin more accessible to Vietnamese speakers by providing Vietnamese translations of:

User-facing strings in the Bitcoin Core UI (translation of menu items, labels, messages, etc.)

End-user documentation (README, Bitcoin.org docs, guides)

    Developer documentation (API docs, examples)

Vietnamese is spoken by over 95 million people, and having localized docs and UI would make Bitcoin more useful and easier to adopt for Vietnamese developers and users.

Before starting work, we would like to ask for guidance and community support:

Is there an existing localization process for Bitcoin Core that we should follow?

Should translations be maintained in a specific format/tool (e.g., gettext .po, Crowdin, Weblate, etc.)?

Are there maintainers willing to review and merge Vietnamese translations?

Do you recommend guidelines for terminology (e.g., how to translate technical terms like UTXO, fee bumping, mempool, PSBT)?

We are happy to start a working group and coordinate the translation effort. Any pointers, best practices, or existing localization infrastructure would be very helpful.

Thanks so much for your time and for all the contributions to Bitcoin! ❤️

    Best,

    Long Ngo

End-user documentation (README, Bitcoin.org docs, guides)

This seems the wrong place to discuss third-party translations. bitcoin.org is a separate website, tracked in another repo. You’ll have to reach out to the respective other places to discuss translations with them.

User-facing strings in the Bitcoin Core UI (translation of menu items, labels, messages, etc.)

The GUI translations are tracked on transifex, see the docs. They also contain a “glossary” with terminology.

As for Bitcoin Core RPC doc translations and markdown files, I don’t think there is currently any infra to support this.

Thanks. I think @hebasto is best placed to answer any questions. However closing this for now.

I have nothing to add to @maflcko’s exhaustive comment.
