This looks like an almost exact copy of the changes in #5084 ? Please see that issue for discussion, in particular the use of -rdynamic.

Yes, I can see how this is useful, but this will likely keep the status of unsupported patch. See discussion in #5084.

Closing this. It fails the travis tests, and we won't merge this as-is due to the same reasons as #5084.
