Bitcoin-qt crashes a few seconds in to the synchronization process with the error message "Failed to write block".

Reading through the log I can't find any info as to why it's failing, but it seems to fail on blk00000.dat. Full log here: http://pastebin.com/zPDfi8s8 This is from a completely fresh install. In fact it's from the bitcoin's first ever run on my system.

Why can't it access the file it just created itself? Other programs can open and save to it fine.

I just installed bitcoin but I've had the same issue with other wallets for weeks. It's the same for all alt-coin wallets I've tried. I have over 26GB available and am running the client as administrator.

most likely running some weird AV that locks the file out from under the program.

    Windows 7 x64 and bitcoin-qt 0.8.6

I don't have any AV other than Microsoft security essentials. The file is not locked since I can both open and save to it using Notepad++
