suggest display datetime string in local time rather than UTC in debug.log #3872

    the DateTimeStrFormat function use gmtime, which express datetime in UTC. We suggest to switch to localtime and display datetime in user's timezone, which can be better interpretted.

    As per @gmaxwell's comment in #3983, UTC is nicer and less ambiguous. I'm afraid the answer seems to be no on this one. If that is all, can we close this?

    "UTC is nicer" not for 99% of the users
    bitcoind the only app I use that has UTC for logs, which makes it a choir to compare between logs

    @systemsplanet 99% of users are not reading the debug.log file. UTC makes it easier to compare logs between multiple instances of bitcoind running on different machines from different people.
