v 0.17.0 win 7 64 bit missing recent transactions. #14541

After upgrading to 0.17.0 I loaded one of my wallet.dat files, which is used occasionally to find that even with full sync some recent transactions I've seen on blockchain are not shown in Bitcoin Core. Prior to 0.17.0 all went smooth - I put the wallet.dat I need where it belongs, fire up Bitcoin Core and see all the incoming transactions not yet in those wallet.dat. As of now I had to manually force rescan via bitcoin.conf to see the missing transactions.

    OS: win 7 x64.

I suspect it may be caused by versioning issues, since the file was saved under 0.16.3, however when upgrading from 0.16.0 to 0.16.3, or from 0.15.0 to 0.16.0 I had no such behavior.

Is this still an issue with a recent version of Bitcoin Core? If yes, what are the steps to reproduce?

Yep, checked with 9 months old backup with 0.19.1. All transaction are there. But it became more confusing: I tried to load backup wallet saved in august 2019. See the picture below. It's either warning OR error, but not Warning: Error occured, since it's not informative, keys are ok, that is what counts, but some labels may be missing - not a big deal really, to scare user with error.

It gets better: when loaded wallet shows one of older transactions as most recent one (total wallet assets is ok, but tx got displayed twice with correct and recent timestamp)

Not sure if system is relevant here, but it's still win7 ultimate x64 eng Steps to reproduce:

    1. try to load wallet file previously backed up a while ago, and named the same way as recently closed wallet file.
    2. Warning: Error displayed, looks like nothing really happens while it's displayed - close the opening wallet modal, close warning.
    3. Load that wallet file again, no warning gets displayed now, wait for wallet to load
    4. Check transactions tab

    Hope that helps Error_or_warning double_tx_display

Also forgot to mention: while opening wallet no connections are opened and node is falling behind for the time of opening, on weaker systems it can consume some considerable time.

This is no longer an issue in recent versions of Bitcoin Core. We'll close it for now, please feel free to add additional comments or open a new issue if you think that would be helpful.

    see #25880

This is a wallet issue, so the ref seems wrong?

@MarcoFalke I think this comment made us think it was not the wallet's fault but the p2p stalling issue. @VadimEv are you able to test again with the latest release of Bitcoin Core?
